LOS ANGELES – UCLA coach Jim Mora would rather not call his linebackers spies, but senior Jayon Brown would surely like to keep his role undercover for the Bruins this week.
The UCLA defense found success the past two games when assigning a linebacker to spy, or to use Mora’s preferred term “cover,” the quarterback. It’s typically either Brown or Kenny Young in that position.
When asked this week if he could reprise that role, the one in which he earned the team’s defensive player of the week after a win over BYU, Brown smiled.
