UCLA’s senior center was asked about a game many in the program would rather forget.
It was last season, the first weekend of October, when the then-unbeaten Bruins surrendered a school-record 10 sacks and were edged by Utah, 30-28, at the Rose Bowl – a significant blow to their playoff hopes at the time.
“I’m really not going to comment on last season,” Brendel said. “It’s something that happened. It’s done.”
The Utes constantly harassed quarterback Brett Hundley that night, part of a season in which the Bruins allowed 40 sacks.
