UCLA names Josh Rosen its starting quarterback

UCLA football coach Jim Mora has officially named true freshman Josh Rosen the starter for the team's Sept. 5 season opener against Virginia. Rosen beat out fourth-year junior Jerry Neuheisel for the position after a competitive spring session and fall camp.

Rosen, who enrolled in January, was expected to win the job after Brett Hundley declared for the NFL Draft after his junior season and other competitors like Asiantii Woulard ended up transferring.

Rosen inherits a UCLA offense that is returning almost its entire starting lineup, including Pac-12 leading rusher Paul Perkins.
