One of UCLA’s top defensive linemen looks like he may be lost for the season.
Junior defensive end Eddie Vanderdoes is set to undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered during the Bruins’ 34-16 win over Virginia in the season opener on Saturday, according to published reports.
The injury was first reported Sunday night by Rivals.com.
Vanderdoes, a returning All-Pac-12 honorable mention last season, played a key role in the opener. He led the Bruins with eight tackles, including two for a loss, and along with nose tackle Kenny Clark, helped slow down the Cavaliers’ rushing attack, holding them to 2.
