LOS ANGELES – The assignment has changed.
When Jayon Brown first entered UCLA’s starting lineup in September, he was there to replace Myles Jack as an outside linebacker.
As the injuries mounted in Saturday’s win over Colorado, Isaako Savaiinaea already out with a high ankle sprain and Kenny Young exiting in the second quarter with an upper body injury, Brown took on a new role at inside linebacker. He also lined up as the “Mike” linebacker for much of the fourth quarter.
“It was fun playing Mike,” Brown said, “but I need to work on it.
