UCLA is switching sidelines at the Rose Bowl to get out of the sun

UCLA will switch sidelines at the Rose Bowl next season, moving its players out of direct sunlight for games played in the afternoon.

The Bruins will now stand on the side shaded by the press box and the Terry Donahue Pavilion. Quarterback Mike Fafaul acknowledged in November that it was “kind of hard to see sometimes” while standing on the side that was in the sun.

The change came after a majority of students surveyed supported the moving of the student section to the north end zone to accommodate Pac-12 Conference rules that dictate students cannot sit behind a visiting team’s bench.
