LOS ANGELES – Speaking with reporters before a recent practice at Pauley Pavilion, Bryce Alford sighed and acknowledged the obvious.
Once again, UCLA’s streaky guard has started Pac-12 play in a shooting slump.
“It’s weird,” Alford said, “because it’s happened at the same time.”
When the Bruins opened with losses at Colorado and Utah last season, he made just 2 of 26 field-goal attempts (0 for 13 from 3-point range), including an 0-for-10 shooting performance against the Utes.
Little changed this time.
As UCLA dropped its first two conference games last weekend at Washington and Washington State, Alford again struggled, going 7 for 31 from the floor (4 for 15 from 3-point range).
