LOS ANGELES – Theo Howard, a highly touted UCLA freshman receiver who is among the candidates vying to replace Jordan Payton, has been picking up a few pointers from the former Bruin this spring.
As a high school freshman, Howard enrolled at Oaks Christian High in Westlake Village, also Payton’s alma mater, where he was first introduced to him.
“We weren’t that close,” said Howard, who spent three years at Oaks Christian before transferring to nearby Westlake High.
But the relationship is starting to pay off now.
“Ever since I started coming around UCLA, he started giving me little tips, just telling me to make sure I’m focused and just keep working, basically,” Howard added.
