I was a victim of the prematurely unwarranted hype. I was a believer in the often flawed recruiting ranking system. I was influenced by local publications claiming that an 18 year old could throw better than the superstar-program savior NFL draft pick who holds almost every UCLA passing record, Brett Hundley. I also acknowledged how much of a homer I was for thinking that Josh Rosen could lead the Bruins to the College Football Playoff as a true freshman. I was prepared for the eventual backlash I would be subjected to by my friends due to my unsubstantiated praise for a player who might fail miserably.
