Janelle Lindvall, one of 12 Californians on the Oregon softball roster, blasted a pair of two-run home runs to spark an 8-1 victory Saturday night in the Eugene Super Regional of the NCAA tournament.
Lindvall, a niece of former Dodgers outfielder Chuck Essegian, broke the school record of 46 career homers when she capped a six-run outburst in the third inning with a shot to left field. Lindvall’s second homer cleared the fence in dead center.
The best-of-three series, which determines one of eight berths in the Women’s College World Series, continues Sunday at Oregon.
