UCLA defensive back Ishmael Adams faces misdemeanor battery charge

UCLA defensive back Ishmael Adams has been charged with misdemeanor battery, stemming from an August incident in which he was accused of using force to rob an Uber driver of a cellphone.

The charge was filed in Superior Court on Monday by the Los Angeles City Attorney's office. Adams is scheduled to be arraigned in November.

Adams was arrested in the early morning hours Aug. 30. He was immediately suspended from the team and missed three games.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office decided against filing felony charges and referred the case to the city attorney's office.
