Some stability returns to UCLA's offensive line

LOS ANGELES – UCLA’s offensive line was as stable as any position group on the roster to start the season.

All five starters returned. They had more career starts than any other Football Bowl Subdivision team.

But the past four games have featured four different starting combinations, and the once-stable unit has looked less so.

Part of it stemmed from injuries. Left tackle Conor McDermott injured his knee in the Oct.15 loss at Stanford. A week later against Cal, Kolton Miller replaced him.

Part of it resulted from off-field issues. Right guard Alex Redmond (Los Alamitos High) did not play in the win over Colorado on Halloween for “personal reasons,” which resulted in Caleb Benenoch sliding over from right tackle and Miller filling in for Benenoch.
