Troy water polo player Claire Schade on Wednesday became part of the foundation of a new program with old Orange County ties.
The senior left-handed attacker signed a letter of intent with Fresno State, which will field its first team next season.
The Bulldogs are coached by former Rosary and UCLA standout and two-time Olympian Natalie Benson. She is assisted by former UC Irvine player Caitlin Haskell.
Fresno State signed nine players in November and also has added Fullerton College goalie Maddi Garcia (La Habra).
“The future looks really good,” Schade said in a text message Wednesday.
