Nearly four seasons through Jim Mora’s tenure, UCLA has yet to kick its penalty habit.
In Saturday’s 31-27 home loss to Washington State, the Bruins were penalized a season-high 13 times for 75 yards. Through 10 games, they have tallied 89 penalties.
Only two teams, Hawaii (90) and Miami (96) have been penalized more this season.
“It’s frustrating for everybody involved,” UCLA coach Jim Mora said Sunday. “Anything that I can think of doing we’re trying to do with regards to focusing on it, concentrating on it, emphasizing it, working on it in practice.”
In 2012, Mora’s first season, the Bruins were the most penalized team in the country, averaging 9.
