LOS ANGELES – The recruitment of Jordan Payton four years ago became buzzworthy, a made-for-Internet story for the notable fact he committed to a third of the Pac-12 schools.
The timeline went like this.
During his junior season at Oaks Christian High in 2010, Payton pledged to USC.
That later changed when he committed after the season, the following January, to Cal.
On the eve of National Signing Day in February 2012, Payton said he would attend Washington.
He ended up signing with UCLA.
“He’s such a nice guy, he didn't want to tell anybody no,” Bill Redell, Payton’s high school coach said this week.
