In a stunning display of composure amid one of college basketball’s most hostile environments and against perhaps its best team, the No. 11 Bruins showed they would not be rattled during a high-flying 97-92 victory over the top-ranked Wildcats on Saturday at Rupp Arena.
There was a slightly frightening finish for UCLA after Kentucky’s Derek Willis pulled the Wildcats to within 95-92 on a three-pointer with 8.3 seconds left. Bruins guard Bryce Alford then made two free throws after getting fouled and teammate Gyorgy Goloman bounded onto the court with both arms raised after Kentucky missed a three-pointer.
