Maya Bryd’s days of commuting five miles by bus to the exclusive Tennis Club at Newport Beach for her high school team practices and competitions seem far gone.
The Sage Hill School junior now improves her backhand on the school’s new tennis center, which comprises six courts and multiple seating areas.
Across a walkway from the tennis center, which opened last year, crews are constructing an aquatics center scheduled to open this month on a former blacktop outdoor basketball court. The center features a 33-meter-by-25 yard pool. It is eight-feet deep for water polo matches, and includes 12 lanes with eight deep lanes for competition swimming.
