PASADENA – As of Saturday evening, the UCLA records for completions and pass attempts in a single game belonged to a former walk-on.
Quarterback Mike Fafaul had to wait three years to gain scholarship status and five years for one of the most prolific passing performances in school history.
He not only carved out a place for himself in the UCLA record book, the fifth-year senior filling in for the injured Josh Rosen in Saturday’s 52-45 loss to Utah shattered the previous records in each category.
It was Rosen who held the record for pass attempts and completions with 57 and 34 last year against Washington State.
