Lonzo Ball brings winning attitude, high hopes to UCLA

/ STAFF WRITER

It’s difficult to determine how much Lonzo Ball assumed control of the UCLA basketball program on his own and how much the incumbent authorities were inspired to simply hand it to the freshman point guard.

Perhaps Steve Alford’s lack of job stability prompted the UCLA coach to go all-in adopting the up-tempo offense Ball has run his whole life.

Perhaps the two point guards the freshman displaced fit better in alternate roles.

Perhaps the leadership at UCLA wasn’t so egotistical it couldn’t cede command of the locker room.

Or perhaps Ball is so good at all of the above, he deserves it all.
