A few weeks ago, when the Operation Varsity Blues scandal first broke, I started to hear some chatter that the arrests which included UCLA men’s soccer coach Jorge Salcedo might just be the tip of the iceberg.
While that investigation is continuing, Nathan Fenno of the Los Angeles Times published an article this afternoon which details a different, legal but equally concerning scheme about UCLA donors essentially buying admission for their kids by making large contributions to the UCLA Athletics Department.
Fenno’s report cites a letter from former Track & Field Director Mike Maynard to Athletic Director Dan Guerrero, dated July 9, 2014.
