FULLERTON – JSerra had the leadoff man aboard in six innings and had runners on base in every inning against Bishop Amat of La Puente in the championship game of the National Classic on Thursday night at Cal State Fullerton.
Getting those runners home was another story.
The Lancers defeated JSerra, 5-1, in part because the Lions had two runners thrown out at the plate in one inning, had a runner picked off second base and a runner caught stealing.
JSerra also stranded seven runners.
The victory was the 10th in a row for Bishop Amat (14-4), which is 6-0 and in first place in the Del Rey League but not ranked in CIF-SS Division 1.
