Jerry Neuheisel, Josh Rosen begin battle for starting QB job as UCLA opens training camp

SAN BERNARDINO – UCLA opened training camp on Monday at Cal State San Bernardino, looking to settle the same question it left unanswered 106 days ago when it finished spring practice at the Rose Bowl.

Who will be the starting quarterback?

For at least another week, three candidates will remain in the mix.

Fourth-year junior Jerry Neuheisel, who filled in for Brett Hundley in last season’s win over Texas, and ballyhooed freshman Josh Rosen, who enrolled early in January, split the majority of the snaps during the first practice.

Neuheisel began by directing the first-team offense.
