Go out there and play, past UCLA freshman QBs tell Rosen

LOS ANGELES – In the days leading up to his first start as a true freshman in 2002, Matt Moore remembers the chaos.

Moore had been planning to redshirt during his first season at UCLA, but the quarterback was thrust into duty following a sudden rash of injuries. Starter Cory Paus was shelved for the season when he broke his right ankle in the Bruins’ seventh game at Cal and then his backup, Drew Olson, hurt his shoulder in the same game.

That put Moore on track to start the next week against Stanford, and he received a crash course along the way.
