BERKELEY – In a fitting finale for a disappointing season, UCLA flopped in an embarrassing 36-10 loss to Cal at Memorial Stadium on Saturday night.
The loss cemented UCLA’s worst season since 2010, the second-to-last year of the Rick Neusheisel era, and shut down any chance of the Bruins (4-8, 2-7 Pac-12) getting an NCAA exemption to play in a bowl game. Never had the Bruins finished with a losing record under Jim Mora.
The same way the offense imploded during the season, the Bruins failed to generate anything on the ground. Against the second-to-last rushing defense in the country, UCLA rushed for only 84 yards on 24 carries.
