LOS ANGELES – Jordin Canada scored 19 points, making six free throws in the final 25 seconds, and the third-seeded UCLA Bruins held on to beat sixth-seeded South Florida, 72-67, in an NCAA Tournament second-round game Monday night at Pauley Pavilion.
Former Mater Dei High standout Nirra Fields added 14 points and Kari Korver added 12 as the Bruins (26-8), who had led by 17 points in the second quarter, needed to make seven of eight free throws down the stretch to advance to the Sweet 16, where they will meet No. 2 seed Texas on Saturday in Bridgeport, Conn.
