If you have yet to file your taxes, you aren’t alone.
For the week of April 7, total returns filed were down 3.6 percent compared with last year, according to the IRS.

If you are unable to file your taxes by April 18, you can request an extension. You still must estimate how much you will owe and pay it.
If you file for an extension but do not pay the estimated amount owed, you will be hit with a late payment penalty.
