Major League Baseball held its amateur draft this week, and the UCLA Bruins had eight players selected, good for second most in the conference behind Arizona State, who had nine. Through his eleven seasons as head coach, John Savage has produced 77 draft selections, 29 of which went in the first ten rounds. All time, UCLA has 259 MLB draft selections.
Unlike with the NBA and the NFL, you can be drafted by the MLB but return to school (provided you have eligibility remaining) if you don’t sign before August 15.
