James Kaprielian and David Berg combined on a 10-inning no-hitter and Kevin Kramer’s sacrifice fly scored the winning run as No. 2 UCLA edged Arizona, 1-0, on Friday in a Pac-12 series opener at Jackie Robinson Stadium. It is believed to be UCLA’s first no-hitter in the modern era (since 1974), the school said.
Christoph Bono started the winning rally by drawing a walk off Arizona loser Tyger Talley (5-1), and advanced to third base on Brett Stephens’ one-single up the middle. Kramer followed with his fly to center field, scoring the winning run for the Bruins (38-12, 19-6 Pac-12).
