The Gus Bus pulled out of the terminal at UCF Thursday night — albeit after a nearly three-hour rain delay — and started its historic, euphoric trek into “The Future of College Football.”
Those words — “Future of College Football” — are how new UCF football coach Gus Malzahn described his new program during his introductory news conference in February and what the Knights’ marketing department has spotlighted on billboards from Tallahassee to Gainesville to Miami and other select locations throughout the state during the offseason. Each billboard featured the miles from its location to Orlando as a way to tweak the big-boy programs in the state and send a message to their recruits that UCF is the place to be.
