UCF is looking to shake off any melancholy surrounding the program, focusing on the opportunity to start conference play with a clean slate.
The Knights emerge from their nonconference schedule with an ugly 0-4 record — the program's worst start since 2004 — but rather than bemoan the start, players and coaches are looking forward to kicking off play in the American Athletic Conference with a showdown at Tulane (1-2, 0-0) Saturday at noon.
"I told the kids, 'We're 0-0 heading into conference play,'" UCF coach George O'Leary said Monday. "That's what the one goal of the team is … and we've got to get better.
