McKenzie Milton received the first of what should be many preseason honors for the UCF quarterback when he was named to the Maxwell Football Club’s Maxwell Award Monday.
Milton was one of 84 college players listed for the honor, which is given to the top college football player each year since 1937. He was a semifinalist for the award last season.
He is one of just six semifinalists to make a return appearance on the list.
Milton set or tied eight UCF single-season records as a sophomore, including most passing yards (4,037), most passing touchdowns (37), and highest quarterback efficiency (179.
