The future of the War on I-4 rivalry series between UCF and USF is in jeopardy. As the Knights head to the Big 12 after accepting an invitation Friday, the Bulls are being left behind in the American Athletic Conference.
Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowslby explained that the Power Five league did not consider the Bulls in this round of conference expansion. In 2016, both schools were candidates but the Big 12 ultimately decided not to expand, staying at 10 teams.
With two of the league’s biggest brands and programs, Texas and Oklahoma, moving to the SEC by 2025 at the latest, expansion for the Big 12 was a necessity compared to five years ago.
