Gus Malzahn has been around football for more than three decades but even a veteran coach like Malzahn gets a little energized about the start of another fall camp especially when you’re taking over a new program.
The last time the 55-year-old kicked off preseason with a new team was in 2013 at Auburn. That season, he led the Tigers to an SEC Championship before falling short in the BCS Championship Game against Florida State.
“There are expectations,” said Malzahn, who took over the program on Feb. 15. “That’s what it’s about. We have high goals, high dreams and we put ourselves out there so you’ve got to win on the field but I think we’re in a good spot to do that.
