It wasn’t perfect, but UCF’s win over Temple Saturday was just what the Knights needed — particularly heading into a highly anticipated matchup with No. 7 Cincinnati this week.
The short-handed Owls threw multiple looks on defense in hopes of short-circuiting UCF’s high-scoring offense and for a bit, it seemed to work. The Knights (5-2, 4-2 AAC) went nearly 21 minutes without a score and failed to produce points in the second quarter for the first time this season.
But while the offense was tested early, the defense stepped up in a big way for the second straight game forcing three takeaways and limiting Temple (1-5, 1-5 AAC) to 290 yards.
