UCF suffered another setback at running back as redshirt sophomore RJ Harvey reportedly suffered a season-ending knee injury during practice.
Harvey was in contention for a starting spot on the depth chart before suffering the injury which was reported by Jason Beede of 247Sports through several sources. The former Edgewater High product, who transferred from Virginia last season, was making the switch from quarterback to tailback.
He was competing against a pair of transfers in Isaiah Bowser (Northwestern) and Mark-Antony Richards (Auburn) for the starting job.
It’s a blow for the running backs group that was already dealing with the departure of Bentavious Thompson, who left the football program according to first-year coach Gus Malzahn.
