The white embroidered letters DG adorned on the left breast of the pressed black polo that Dillon Gabriel was wearing Thursday stood for more than just his name. It was a new beginning of sorts for the UCF quarterback.
“This is very historic,” Gabriel said during a news conference to announce the launch of his own personal brand, DG. “I’m excited for all of college sports and it’s going to be different but it’s going to be a fun one.”
Gabriel joined a growing number of college athletes including several of his teammates who have already started capitalizing on name, image and likeness legislation that went into effect Thursday.
