TALLAHASSEE — UCF fans are a step closer to being able to purchase specialty license plates honoring their claim to the 2017 college football national championship after a bill passed through a House panel Tuesday.
HB 1359 would allow UCF specialty plates with “National Champions” to be purchased by drivers for $25. Part of the proceeds of specialty plates go to the universities they depict.
“I’m happy this year we can add on a wonderful UCF national champions plate that is so much deserved,” said Rep. Amber Mariano, R-Hudson, a UCF graduate.
The bill passed on a 12-1 vote, with little pushback on UCF’s claim to the title.
