UCF middle linebackers looking for breakthrough playing tough role

Almost as quickly as Quintin Hampton trotted onto the field in his first start at middle linebacker, UCF coach George O'Leary pulled his number.

The game was simply moving too fast for the true freshman linebacker to keep up. Despite the disadvantage, Hampton left Saturday's 40-13 loss to UConn with a team-high 10 tackles.

"He was one of the problems," O'Leary said. "I yanked him pretty quick, I mean, when they run the A and B gaps, you look at your mike linebacker. … He's gonna be a really good player, but he's just a little too hesitant in some things right now.
