For all the family support Shaquem Griffin has relied on throughout his adversity-riddled football career, it was an emotional encounter with a stranger that helped motivate the UCF linebacker to produce a career-best performance at Houston Saturday.
Griffin met a man in a wheelchair after exiting the team's bus outside TDECU Stadium. The man, he said, waited outside for three hours to greet the team.
"He said he saw our story and it makes . . . his day more exciting," said Griffin, whose story was featured on ESPN's College GameDay two weeks ago.
