The UCF depth chart won't be finalized until Sunday at the earliest, but a few new candidates for playing time stood out during the team's only open practice Friday afternoon.
Receiver Chris Johnson and linebacker Mark Rucker ran with the first team during some segmented scrimmages. Rucker, who had the play of the day Thursday with an interception, lined up at the weak-side linebacker position alongside senior middle linebacker Domenic Spencer and sophomore strong-side linebacker Chequan Burkett.
Johnson, a redshirt sophomore from Jacksonville First Coast, seemingly came out of nowhere this camp as he switched back to receiver after spending some time as a defensive back this spring.
