The UCF football program has seen a myriad of changes since January, but the biggest one came Monday afternoon when quarterbacks coach Danny Barrett was formally introduced as the team's interim head coach 24 hours after George O'Leary's surprising retirement announcement.
Barrett was the only assistant coach on staff with head-coaching experience, which partly explained why he was selected over first-year offensive coordinator Brent Key.
In an odd twist of fate, UCF plays Cincinnati this Saturday for the first time in program history. Barrett, a former quarterback, is a Bearcats alum and was inducted into his school's hall of fame in 2001.
