UCF junior forward Brittney Smith earned first team All-American Athletic Conference honors and the Knights were picked to finish No. 2 in the league in the AAC preseason coaches’ poll released Wednesday.
Smith was second in scoring last season with 10.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game on a UCF team that finished 20-10 overall, including an 11-5 record in conference.
USF was tabbed as the preseason favorite, with the Bulls earning 98 points and eight first-place votes after finishing in fourth place last season.
The Knights received one first-place vote and 79 points ahead of Tulane (78) and Cincinnati (73), who received two first-place votes.
