There is a lot more on the line for the UCF football team against UConn than winning a trophy celebrating the manufactured Civil Conflict rivalry.
A victory for the Knights would give them a shot — albeit a long one — at challenging for the American Athletic Conference East Division title, the first step toward reaching the league's championship game Dec. 12. With the exception of Temple, every team in the division has at least one loss.
A loss to the Huskies would surely dash those hopes. And right now, UCF players are clinging to some faith they can pull out of a losing skid that saw them start the season a dismal 0-5.
