UCF’s defensive front played some of its best football of the season for a stretch of about 16 minutes during the first half against Tulane on Saturday.
The Knights trailed 14-10 with 1:23 left in the first quarter when the defense went on a tear, fielding a pass rush that earned five sacks and seven tackles for a loss while holding the Green Wave to 15 yards during 17 plays.
As the defense held Tulane scoreless, UCF’s offense went to work scoring 27 consecutive points to give the Knights a commanding 37-14 halftime lead. UCF eventually cruised to a 51-34 win.
