UCF defense prepared to go distance

UCF football coaches whipped players into shape with a rapid practice tempo that junior tight end Jordan Franks once joked had him winded after running 95 plays.

No one could have predicted the Knights' defense would end up being the biggest beneficiary from coach Scott Frost's UCFast system.

UCF's offense dropped to a season-low 55 plays run against Tulane Saturday, but senior safety Drico Johnson helped the Knights' defense shine despite spending extensive time on the field.

The Knights forced the Green Wave to commit five turnovers, scoring on three of those opportunities.
