Williams, a former 3-star recruit out of Atlanta, played the position for three seasons under legendary coach Steve Spurrier at South Carolina before starting his career in coaching there. But after taking a role as an analyst for Gus Malzahn at Auburn, Williams began to see the position in a whole new light.
“The biggest thing from a learning standpoint was seeing football from a different perspective,” Williams said of his time at Auburn. “I had played defensive back and I’ve coached on defense every year I’ve been in it, so just seeing and being in the meeting room with the guys.
