New UCF coach Gus Malzahn has retained receivers coach Darrell Wyatt, making him the first staff member from former coach Josh Heupel’s tenure to remain with the Knights.
Wyatt spent the past three seasons on Heupel’s staff, working with the receivers unit. He left the program in mid-January to reportedly take a job on Bryan Harsin’s staff at Auburn. Harsin replaced Malzahn, who was fired after eight seasons with the Tigers.
During Wyatt’s tenure, UCF produced back-to-back 1,000-yard receivers in Gabriel Davis (2019) and Marlon Williams (2020). In 2020, Davis became the first UCF wideout selected in the NFL draft since Tre’Quan Smith in 2017.
