UCF football coach Gus Malzahn hired veteran strength and conditioning coach Chris Dawson to be the Knights’ new director of sports performance.
Dawson has spent more than 25 years in the strength training field, most recently serving as Kansas State’s director of strength and conditioning the past 12 years.
Strength coaches have long been lauded as the cornerstone of strong football programs, spending the most time with players during the offseason and molding their frames to better run a team’s preferred scheme. With Malzahn promising to continue to run a rapid-paced, high-scoring offense, the Knights will need to be in shape to keep up.
