The UCF basketball team’s home opener against Oklahoma has been postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests in the Sooners program, marking a challenging start to the season for the Knights.
Jeff Goodman of Stadium was the first to report the news as Oklahoma canceled its home opener against UTSA five hours before tipoff on Wednesday.
The Knights were to face the Sooners at Addition Financial Arena at 2 p.m. Saturday. Instead, the team will open the season at home against Auburn Monday at 7 p.m.
“I think there’s uncertainty right now and that’s going to be that way this entire season until we get a vaccine and some sense of normalcy,” UCF coach Johnny Dawkins said when asked about programs forced to postpone or cancel games due to COVID-19 exposure.
