Kendric Davis led the Mustangs with 21 points. Yor Anei added 12 points and four blocks for SMU (8-2, 4-2 American Athletic Conference). Feron Hunt had 11 points and eight rebounds and Emmanuel Bandoumel scored 11.
“They got out in transition a little more than we wanted them to in the second half,” UCF coach Johnny Dawkins said. “They got high-percentage points — points in the paint from rolling their bigs. They were doing that more consistently than they were in the first half.”
The Knights shot 30.6% from the field in the second half and struggled to keep up with the surging Mustangs, who went on a 10-0 run to pull away from UCF.
